[ARTICLE] NEW WORK FROM LOCAL TALENTS AND GLOBAL ARTISTS HAS ARRIVED IN NEARBY GALLERIES

From striking portraits to imagined alternate realities, new exhibitions from celebrated artists have arrived in Austin and nearby galleries. These art shows have something for everyone so stop by while you can—they won’t be around for long. Here are five of our favorite “must-see” upcoming and current exhibitions:

Patrick Puckett: Spring and All
Puckett’s paintings juxtapose leisurely characters with striking aesthetics. His latest exhibition, “Spring and All,” features portraits with vivid colors and background patterns that compete for attention with his subjects. “Spring and All” is available for viewing by appointment from10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and for walk-ins Tuesday through Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Icons & Vandals
West Chelsea Contemporary’s (WCC) new show celebrates global artists who have subverted the contemporary art world throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. Works by Banksy, Basquiat, Takashi Murakami, Ai Weiwei, RETNA, Andy Warhol and more will be on display. Icons & Vandals is open seven days a week at WCC’s downtown gallery.

Gay Gaddis: Mi Casa Es Su Casa
In her latest collection, “Vistas,” artist Gay Gaddis shows us stunning depictions of Texas Hill Country skies and landscapes. The paintings will be on display at Fossil Ridge, Gaddis’ private studio and gallery.

AtxGALS BLOOM
BLOOM celebrates Austin’s women artists, with works on display from Eryn Brooke, Neena Buxani, Monica Ceniceros, Phoebe Joynt, Danika Ostrowski, Avery Price and Yasmin Youssef. The art show will be held at The Cathedral, a refurbished 1930s church in east Austin, where visitors can meet the artists, purchase their works, listen to music and enjoy a variety of complimentary drinks from local brands.

Gladys Poorte: Nuevo Mundo
Gladys Poorte’s newest exhibition, “Neuvo Mundo,” features whimsical, futuristic landscapes that challenge viewers to explore the familiar and the foreign. Her imaginative works are reminiscent of science fiction settings, with dreamy vistas and puzzling structures. Her artwork at the Davis Gallery can be viewed by appointment only.
