The Green Leaves of Summer was inspired by the rolling fields we discovered on a special trip through Tuscany. The landscape seemed to glow with life with rich Kelly green grass stretching across the hills beneath a brilliant blue sky brushed with just a hint of purple. It’s the kind of lush, vibrant green you might expect to find in Ireland, yet here it was, unfolding beautifully in the Tuscan countryside.
What makes this painting even more meaningful to me is the memory behind it. I was traveling with my daughter, my favorite travel companion and the master planner of our magical journeys. She always seems to find places where the scenery feels almost too beautiful to be real. I may have been far from Ireland, but standing in that sea of green beside her, I felt incredibly lucky all the same. This painting holds that feeling, the joy of discovery, the richness of the land and the simple gift of sharing the moment together.
