Lee’s Field is named for my late husband, who adored our Double Heart Ranch most when the wildflowers were in full bloom. This painting began as a love letter to those days, and it brings me great satisfaction to know it now lives with a favorite collector, being enjoyed in a home filled with life.
I spent hours hand-painting each petal in what felt like an endless field, bursting of orange, red, pink and purple, mirroring the way those blooms once stretched across the land he loved so dearly. Above the flowers, the sky rises in billowing strokes of blue clouds layered with purple and pink, with rays of light breaking along the horizon as if the heavens had opened. There is comfort in knowing this memory, once so personal, now continues its life on someone else’s wall, inviting reflection, warmth and beauty each day.
