Description
Most of my paintings are inspired by the Texas Hill Country. However, sometimes the places I visit are so amazing that they influence how I see my surroundings, allowing me to perceive them in a new way.
For example, this diptych entitled, “Gliding Through Sahara Sand” is of a Texas sky that took me back to the beauty I found in Africa. It was painted during a historic sand storm that was so intense, sand traveled across the world influencing our sky. Instead of exotic African birds sweeping the landscape, I painted native buzzards drifting across from one canvas to another. The sunlight, filtered by sand, made the sky look like the sand dunes of Africa, creating a new and interesting subject to paint.
