This painting, affectionately named, Cookie Shine, is part of a collection close to my heart, dedicated to the sisterhood of Pi Beta Phi, a bond that has stayed with me since my undergraduate days at the University of Texas.
I named this painting for the whimsical glow of the sky, washed in candy-like colors that shimmer and glimmer like frosted cookies. But the name also honors the beloved Pi Beta Phi Cookie Shine tradition dating back to 1873, when sisters gathered for a simple potluck of cookies and treats to connect, laugh and build lifelong friendships. That tradition was always about making meaningful connections, and in the same way, my artwork is an invitation to gather, reflect and celebrate the enduring power of sisterhood.
