Umbria, Italy View captures an evening I’ll never forget—a moment when the countryside turned deep, velvety green and the sky surprised us with a shocking orange sunset that seemed to set the land aglow. There are small breaks in the sky where light still peeks through, just enough to remind you that day hasn’t fully let go.
I painted this from memories of a special trip with my daughter, an experienced equestrian rider who spent her days riding native horses through the Umbrian hills. At night, we would slow down together, taking in the sweeping views and the quiet beauty of the land as it settled into darkness. Those evenings felt magical—just the two of us, sharing stories, watching the light change and feeling deeply grateful for the time together. This painting holds that sense of wonder, connection and the rare gift of being fully present in a place and moment we shared.
